The Role

• Reporting to the Managing Director, the Head of Procurement is accountable for leading the global procurement of raw, packaging and indirect materials of the company.  

• The role will be responsible for sourcing, contracting, and mitigating risks by developing supplier relationships and identifying new alternatives. 

• The Head of Procurement is entrusted to lead and develop a diverse and multi-disciplinary team of 10

• procurement spend amounts to approximately €50 million (including other goods and services).

Key Accountabilities

New Product Development

• Leads the support provided to the Research and Development function for the sourcing and procurement of raw materials and packaging materials required for product innovation and development.

• Develops the procurement and sourcing strategy for new product development and ensures implementation and compliance.

• Researches and advises on the latest ingredient and packaging trends and developments in the field of product innovation.

Procurement Raw  

•  Develop and oversee the procurement and sourcing strategy for the key raw materials to support the master operations plan 

• Direct the raw materials team in setting the right goals    

• Ensure that the raw materials team has the right tools to engage with suppliers to achieve the desired outcomes

Procurement Packaging

• Develop and oversee the procurement and sourcing strategy for the key packaging materials to support the master operations plan 

• Direct the packaging materials team in setting the right goals   

• Ensure that the packaging materials team has the right tools to engage with suppliers to achieve the desired outcomes   

• Oversee support provided to the Engineering team

Supplier Relationship management    

• Maintain key relationship with key suppliers (80:20) and leverage on relationships to the benefit of the company                            

• Buying and supply chain

• Partner with key internal stakeholders to drive cost optimisation projects 

• Ensure the right supply chain services

• Evaluate, adopt and maintain policies, procedures and internal controls and ensure compliance with internal and external requirements. Manage and mitigate risks. 

Structure & Lead the Procurement Team

• Ensuring appropriate skill & culture set and talent development

Ideal candidate profile

Education with a technical Background

•  Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Commerce or equivalent

• Master degree in Procurement, Engineering, Sciences, Supply Chain or Finance

Experience

• 10+ years’ experience in a strategic sourcing or procurement environment ideally in the food or FMCG industry: demonstrated experience in a range of different spend categories and proven record as a Strategic Buyer in different categories

• Strategy Deployment

• FMCG is a must & Export

•  Sophisticated manufacturing environments

Key technical skills

• Development and implementation of Procurement Strategy (SST5)

• Solid knowledge in managing supplier development initiatives & ability to lead supplier negotiations, contracts

• Manufacturing (FMCG) knowledge

•  Effective Internal and external stakeholder relationship management

• Expert Risk Management & complex contracts negotiation

• Solid ICT Skills

• Proven track record in managing teams in complex organizations and developing key talents and people
